You might have come across a word often called anorexia, but what actually it is? Is it a disease or a problem? It is simply a result of wrong thought process wherein a person thinks that he or she will gain weight if they eat properly. In this thought process, they even do not eat what is essential for the existence and is always malnourished.
In fact the fears of being overweight is sometimes just wrong and even those who are relatively slim and trim, suffers from same thinking. But why is it so? Psychiatrists explains anorexia a result of fearing isolation or abuse in the society if they are overweight and this wrong thinking becomes so strong in these people especially young girls and ladies that it sometimes leads to disaster.
To sum up the disastrous side of this problem, I guess it would be enough to say that if a mother is anorexic, chances are quite bright that even the child will be anorexic.
But is there any solution? When every solution has problem why not anorexia, though a bit difficult as it is not a physical problem which can be cured by drugs but the answer lies in psychiatric treatment wherein it is important to make understand the patient the importance of having a balanced diet. Not only that he or she must be told that if they eat properly with adequate exercise there is no way they can gain weight, rather if they continued to avoid nutritious foods ,they would suffer from irregular menstrual cycle , abnormal heart beat and so on. In fact if not treated on time, anorexia can be very fatal and even lead to death.
Therefore if you know somebody who is suffering from anorexia, then take her to the professional at once and see to it that they start eating properly immediately. But in doing so you might face many hurdles because it is very difficult to make them understand that they are actually doing wrong with their body rather than any good. And you might get to see their violent side too in the process but with constant effort you would be able to incorporate healthy eating habit in them.
